Itinerary

    Day 1 : BAGDOGRA AIRPORT – PHUENTSHOLING (170 KM / 4 HRS.)

    Arrive at Bagdogra airport, and meet our representative. Proceed for the
    onward journey en-route, have lunch (on your own) then transfer to
    Phuentsholing. Phuentsholing is a border in a southern town in Bhutan
    Phuentsholing is the gateway of Bhutan by Road from India. It is a thriving
    commercial center on the northern edge of the Indian plains. On arrival check
    in at the hotel. Overnight stay at the Phuentsholing.
    MEAL: Dinner

    Day 2 : PHUENTSHOLING – THIMPHU (170 KM / 5 HRS.)

    After breakfast, proceed towards Thimphu via the wonderful mystic town
    Gedu, which is about 9000 ft above the sea and chukha dam. On the way, take
    a halt at Chojum to take photographs of a confluence of two rivers of Bhutan.
    It’s a beautiful roadside waterfall that’s refreshing and rejuvenating. Have
    lunch in a local restaurant after that reach Thimphu.
    Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan, is a unique city with an unusual mixture
    of modern development alongside ancient traditions. With a population of
    about 90,000, it is perhaps still the world’s only capital city without a traffic
    Light. In the evening visit Tashichho Dzong Monastery which is a Buddhist
    Monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimphu in Bhutan.
    If time Permits, (around 5 pm) we will attend the flag- lowering ceremony. It
    is an event of about half an hour when the flag is lowered and wrapped in
    other yellow clothe and taken away to the store.
    Explore the market & café s’ of Thimphu (on your own). Dinner & Overnight
    stay in the hotel.

    Day 3 : THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING

    After breakfast, drive to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) located a short
    drive from Thimphu city center. You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers
    to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country and then walk around and
    take a glimpse of the valley. Visit the National Memorial Chorten. Next visit
    Sangaygang View Point, Simply Bhutan and Takin Preserve which is the
    national animal of Bhutan and looks like a cross between a cow and a goat.
    Next visit Thangtong dewachen nunnery and craft bazaar. In the evening,
    enjoy an exploratory walk around Thimpu’s main street, Overnight stay at the
    hotel in Thimphu.

    If you are in the mood to party, head down to Thimphu market /local pub to
    have for some drinks.

    Day 4 : Thimphu to Punakha/Wangdu (Distance 77km, 3 hours’ drive) to Paro (Distance 125km / 5 hours’ drive)

    After breakfast, drive to Punakha across Dochu La. Located at a height of
    3,088m/ 10,130 ft, Dochula is a scenic location with a chorten, mani wall, and
    prayer flags that decorate this highest point on the road. Visit Chimi Lhakhang
    which is situated on a hillock in the Centre of the valley, and is also known as
    the temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have
    children and wanting one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed
    with a child very soon. Have lunch en route then take a walk through the
    village near the temple will give you rare glimpses into the daily life and
     
    lifestyle of the villagers. In the afternoon drive past Punakha Dzong (Palace of
    Great Happiness), built in 1637 at the junction of the Phochu and Mochu
    rivers. This majestic dzong served as both the religious and administrative
    center of Bhutan in the past. Later visit the Suspension bridge, this is the
    second longest suspension bridge in Bhutan and connects the old
    administrative center of Punakha Dzongkhag to the rest of the valley. If time
    permit: Have
     tea at Manchu Restaurant and proceed to paro.
    Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

    Day 5 : PARO SIGHTSEEING

    Packed breakfast excursion to Taktshang Monastery (approx 5 hours round
    trip walk). It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on
    the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru
    Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this
    monastery hence it is called ‘Tiger’s Nest’. This site has been recognized as a
    most sacred place and was visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646
    and is now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime.

    STAY: Ratna Vara Paro

    OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:
    ? Hot stone bath, the process of a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath is
    unique. It uses Menchu (medicinal water) which is nothing but fresh
    river water mixed with Artemisia leaves.
    ? Chill Out at Namgay Artisanal Brewery, and enjoy tasting several
    variants of local beer such as red rice lagers, pilsners, milk stout, wheat
    beer, etc
    ? Dine in at Park 76 - Spending your evening at the only real pub in Paro
    must be on your list of what to do in Paro Bhutan. You will enjoy the
    dimly lit modern place with a sports-bar vibe.

    Day 6 : PARO – PHUENTSHOLING (200 KM / 6 HRS)

    After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to visit National
    Museum. The extensive collection includes antique Thangkha paintings,
    textiles, weapons & armor, household objects, and a rich assortment of natural
    and historic art facts. After this transfer to Phuentsholing.
    On arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

    OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:
    ? You can take Gho & Kira on rent (Bhutanese attire) outside of the
    museum and click lots of amazing pics.
    ? You can visit Champaca Café, which is a South Indian cafe that serves
    some of the best coffee, sandwiches, and lunches in the area and is very
    tastefully decorated

    Day 7 : PHUENTSHOLING –BAGDOGRA AIRPORT (170 KM / 5 HRS)

    After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to the Bagdogra airport for
    a flight to your onward destination.
